2019 - Medical Mission Trip to Guatemala

In the summer of 2019, several members of our church participated in a medical mission trip arranged through Leadership Excursion and sponsored by several local Guatemala ministries in the aftermath of the devastating volcanic eruption in 2018 of Volcan de Fuego. Our motivation was to show the love of God to others and to remind that God is always faithful.

Matthew 25:40 says "I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters; you were doing it to me.”

Mt Hope Mission Trip 2020 Parkersburg, WV

The youth of Mt Hope Church went on a missions trip to Appalachia from July 11 thru July 17, 2020.  The mission trip was arranged through Praying Pelican Missions.  We partnered with two local churches, Downtown Bethel House of God and Liberty Street Church of God.  We served one of the poorest neighborhoods in Parkersburg, West Virginia where poverty and addiction are a major social problem.  The ministry involved helping with the needs of the community, and providing encouragement and support by showing what it means to love God and love others. The team canvassed the neighborhood, and passed literature on the love of Jesus Christ and information on social resources available from surrounding churches.  We collected food from a local grocery store to replenish a local food pantry.  The group helped repair some of the dilapidated homes such as fixing a front porch and doing yard work for the elderly and disabled.

The ministry continues by developing genuine partnership with the local churches. We will continue to pray for these churches and the community.  We aim to develop life-long friends and establish long term relationships.

Jesus said, “Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, & with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”   - Matt. 22:37-39
